Wheatley Memorial Institute
of Information Sciences (hereafter referenced as WMI) has created this privacy statement in order
to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our
information gathering and dissemination practices for all web
sites owned, operated and/or maintained by WMI.
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems
with our server, and to administer our web sites. Your IP address is used to help
identify you and your shopping cart.
Our sites use 'cookies' to keep track of your shopping
cart. We use 'cookies' to deliver content specific to your interests and to save
your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our sites. You
may set your browser to reject all 'cookies'. If you do this, however, you will be
required to re-log in every time you visit our sites.
Our sites' registration forms
require users to give
us contact information (like name and email address). In addition to
name and e-mail address, we may require that customers provide a day and evening
telephone number, create a user name and enter a password and special
information. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the
choice/opt-out section below.
Our sites may contain links to other sites. WMI
is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites.
WMI uses business partners to help fulfill
reservations and ticket orders. These partners are passed booking information
in order to fulfill and facilitate the booking process. The
information sent to them is used solely for the purpose of fulfilling the reservation
or ticket request.
Our sites use order forms for customers to request
information, products, and services. We collect visitor's contact information
(like their email address) and financial information (like their account or
credit card numbers). WMI uses customer contact information to send
e-mail confirmations, as well as to send travel information prior to the trip
and a thank-you letter and customer service survey after the trip. Should
reservation or billing problems arise, it may be necessary to contact a customer
in order to resolve a problem. From time to time, WMI may use the
contact information in order to request participation in a marketing research
project that requires customer opinions and feedback. Credit card transactions
are processed by a outside third party that uses this information for the sole
purpose of processing the transaction. Users may opt-out of receiving future
mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Financial information that is
collected is used to bill the user for products and services.
Important note: we do NOT keep credit card information once that information has
been used for the purpose for which it was collected.
Our online surveys ask visitors for contact
information (like their email address) and demographic information (like their
zip code, age, or income level). Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings;
see the choice/opt-out section below. Demographic and profile data is also
collected at our sites. We use this data to tailor our visitor's experience at
our sites, showing them content that we think they might be interested in, and
displaying the content according to their preferences.
In our customer
service section of the sites, we allow lodging properties to update and
enhance their listings. We request personal information, such as the name and
e-mail of the person requesting the changes, as well as information about the
property, such as location, rates and amenities, in order to fulfill the request.
At times, we may find it necessary to contact a customer in order to clarify and
fulfill the request.
Our servers have security measures in place to protect the
loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
By making your travel purchase on our secure
servers,
you are protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, utilized by most
popular browsers, including Netscape and Microsoft Explorer. This technology
allows us to use the most advanced encryption tools necessary to protect
information transmitted between your computer and our servers. Through
encryption, the personal information you enter, including your name,
address, and credit-card information, is converted into
code that is then securely dispatched over the Internet.
Encrypted information received by WMI is
shared with the travel providers (i.e., airlines, hotels, and car-rental
agencies) that you select in your reservation. Only information necessary to
complete the reservation is shared with these travel providers. Once received, your credit-card information is not transmitted over the Internet
again.
Other Security measures are taken to ensure that your data is protected
including off site locked storage of backup tapes accessible only to key personnel, one-way
encryption of credit card information in our databases and
server rooms locked 24/7/365 accessible only to key personnel.
